Alexis Incredible, Cazorla Catastrophic – Player Ratings: Sunderland 0-2 Arsenal

Wojciech Szczęsny – 6

Had nothing to do for most of the game. Made a silly mistake late-on when he rushed out to head the ball for no reason.

Calum Chambers – 7

Looked calm and composed in defence. Done well to push forward and add to our attack. Final ball needs work.

Per Mertesacker – 8

Held our defence together extremely well. Made numerous clearances.

Nacho Monreal – 7

Played extremely well considering the circumstances. Made some rash challenges at centre-back but played well when moved to left-back.

Kieran Gibbs – 8 (Replaced by Bellerin in the 74th minute)

An excellent performance from the Englishman. Bombed forward and showed quality on the ball. Went off injured, which is a worry.

Mathieu Flamini – 6

Decent in the first half but offered very little in the 90 minutes.

Mikel Arteta – 8 (Replaced by Ramsey in the 88th minute)

Outstanding in the first half as he pulled the strings in Arsenal’s midfield. Tired in the second.

Santi Cazorla – 3

Had an absolute shocker. Wasted numerous chances and lost the ball far too often.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6 (Replaced by Rosicky in the 90th minute)

Made some excellent runs but couldn’t quite link-up with the rest of the team.

Alexis Sanchez – 10 – Man of the Match

Another world-class performance from the Chilean. Scored both goals and created numerous chances for his team. Worked extremely hard too.

Danny Welbeck – 7
